PERAN GURU DALAM MEMBANGUN NILAI-NILAI DEMOKRASI DI SEKOLAH DASAR FASE C

This article aims to analyze the role of teachers in instilling democratic values in elementary school students at phase C, particulary in the subject of civics education. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method wtih data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving teachers and fifth-grade students. the results reveal that teachers play a strategic role as educators, mentors, facilitators, and role models in developing students' democratic attitudes through active and participatory learning. Various methods such as discussions, collaborative projects, and inquiry based learning have proven effective in fostering values such as tolerance, responsibility, respect for differing opinions, and awareness of diversity. Thus, the teacher's role extends beyond knowledge transmission to character formation, preparing students to become critical, participative, and democratically minded citizens.
