PENGARUH POLITIK TERHADAP KUALITAS PENDIDIKAN DI SEKOLAH NEGERI DAN SWASTA

Political policies play a central role in determining the progress and decline of education quality in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze how political policies, manifested through dualism in management and funding disparities, influence the quality of education in public and private schools. The method used is a literature review of several articles discussing politics, education management policies, dualism, funding gaps, and private school strategies. The results show that the dualism in management (Ministry of National Education/Ministry of Education and Culture and Ministry of Religious Affairs), a long-standing political compromise, has given rise to jealousy, particularly regarding funding, attention, and assistance. This funding gap impacts quality, often making private schools a second choice. Private schools survive through adaptive strategies, including targeting low-achieving/disadvantaged students and offering low or even free tuition. The conclusion is that political policies oriented toward community needs and equitable collaboration are needed to reduce the quality gap between the two types of institutions.
